Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have my own instrument before starting lessons?

Not necessarily! We can help you choose or rent an instrument, and for trial lessons, instruments are often provided at the studio.

How long are the lessons, and how often should I take them?

Most students start with 30-minute weekly lessons, but 45- or 60-minute sessions are also available for advanced levels or motivated learners.

Can I try a lesson before enrolling?

Absolutely! We offer a free trial lesson so you can meet your teacher, see the studio, and experience our approach before you decide.

Do you teach adults as well?

Yes! Many of our students are adults who want to learn for enjoyment, stress relief, or performance goals. It’s never too late to start making music.

At ABC Music Studio, we believe that aclear understanding of our studio policies helps create a positive andrespectful learning environment for all students, parents, and teachers.
Please take a few minutes to read through our guidelines below.

Payment Policy

  • Lessons are paid in advance per school term (or per month for ongoing enrolments).
  • Invoices are issued before the beginning of each term and payment confirms your reserved lesson time.
  • Payment can be made via bank transfer, credit card, or cash.
  • Late payments may result in loss of the reservedslot or an additional administration fee.

Regular attendance and timely payments ensure consistency and help students achievetheir best results.

Cancellations & Make-up Lessons

  • 24-hour notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
  • Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full.
  • One make-up lesson per term is allowed (subject to teacher availability).
  • Missed make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled or refunded.
  • No refunds are given for missed or unusedlessons.

We value your time and your teacher’s time — thank you for your understanding!

Cancellations& Make-up Lessons

  • Studentsare expected to arrive on time, prepared, and with all requiredmaterials (books, instruments, etc.).
  • Respectfulbehaviour towards teachers and other students is essential.
  • Parentsare welcome to attend lessons quietly if this supports the student’s learning.
  • Pleasesilence mobile phones during lessons.

Acalm and focused environment helps everyone enjoy and learn better.

Learning Materials

  • Studentsshould bring all necessary method books, sheet music, and notebooks toevery lesson.
  • Teachersmay recommend additional materials or exam syllabi (AMEB, ABRSM, Trinity, etc.)depending on the student’s goals.
  • Allphotocopied materials must comply with copyright law.

Usingoriginal materials supports composers and ensures the best learning quality.

Photo & Video Consent

  • From time to time, the studio may take photos or short videos during lessons, concerts, or events.
  • These may be used on the studio’s website, social media, or marketing materials to celebrate student achievements.
  • Parents or adult students can opt out at anytime by notifying the studio in writing.

We love celebrating musical progress — always with your consent and respect forprivacy.

Privacy & Data (GDPR / Australian Privacy Act)

  • ABC Music Studio respects your privacy and complies with GDPR and the Australian Privacy Act 1988.
  • Personal information (such as names, contact details, and lesson records) is collected only for educational and administrative purposes.
  • Your data is stored securely and never shared with third parties without consent.
  • You may request access to or deletion of yourpersonal data at any time.
